Description

"I am one that has grown up having come from the constructors. All of that is part of me, I was supposed to sit there to watch my grandfather and my father in the act of labor, to learn how. Since we were the builders of the past, our offspring were supposed to be the builders of the future. But the system didn't document what the Holleys did. So I tried to separate myself from that. I broke traditions that was in my blood. I have been rebellious against that which was a part of me. I want to learn now. Once I have learned the ways of the old, from which I came, I will then be able to say, 'Now put me out there and let me get involved.' I will appreciate the foundation and help reconstruct it. It is time to rebuild now." —Lonnie Holley
