One of Deborah Pettway Young's older quilts, this work would be considerably less animated without subtle shifts in the alignments of the black crosses and the substitution of purple, orange, and blue for the black bands in three of the blocks. This quilt is also intriguing for its colors: characterized by the paler hues of older Gee's Bend textiles, it features unusual juxtapositions of lavender with orange and lime green.
