Description

Byron's relief-work has produced numerous portraits in his signature sawdust-and-glue technique. Primary subjects within this genre are local and national political figures impacting on former city councilman Byron and his own political constituency. Among these people deemed by the artist to be most significant is then-mayor Maynard Jackson whose likeness, like those of the others, including Dr. King, and Presidents Carter and Reagan, is both strong and accurate.
