Description

Way Back Then is a memory drawing, a collection of remembered faces and figures alongside various buildings, shotgun houses, and shacks. Dial has enveloped the landscape with a fog of graphite, creating a somewhat cloudy notion of the past and how things were “back then." Like all memories, Dial’s drawing has sections or figures that are clearer, drawn with a thick charcoal pencil, highlighting specifics while others remain obscured.
