Description:

Qunnie Pettway's velveteen creation composed of alternating stripes and zigzags reveals the wide range of uses to which quilting bee members put standard patterns when stitching on their own time. The quilt is an irregular shape and the stripes are of differing widths, ignoring the commercial demands for standardized sizing and consistent piecing and transforming an ordinary object into a unique one.
