Description

Lockett's early efforts are sometimes ravishing and often poignant, yet provisional and experimental. Their experimentality derives largely from the relative directness of their dialogic response and debt to things his relative and neighbor Thornton Dial was then doing. Dial made some found-object animals. So did Lockett, as in this elephant fashioned from a vacuum-cleaner hose.
