Description

Qunnie's quilt from 1975 is constructed out of narrow strips of corduroy discards from the Freedom Quilting Bee. Its subtle gradations in color and stepped diagonals are symbolic of a moment in Gee’s Bend when the hard life of farming was coming to an end, and other alternatives, however meager, were presenting themselves.
