Description

Using his hands as brushes, and natural elements like dirt and berry juice as pigment, Jimmy Lee Sudduth documented scenes from around his home. Early on, these included the plant and animal life he saw, neighbors and pop-culture-icon portraits, and the sites of agriculture and industry around Caines Ridge, Alabama. Once he gained some notoriety for his art production, he traveled to bigger cities, such as Washington and Atlanta, and he would often document his impressions of these urban centers.
