Description

Emma Lee Pettway Campbell dipped into the “Housetop” geometry, piecing large strips into loosely organized concentric squares on the quilt back in a reinterpretation of the conventional squares-within-squares on the front of the quilt. As she drew upon her knowledge of the rules and terms for a “Housetop,” she did so in ways that visually recalled the organizing design concept and then shattered it.
